Paragliding Almelo

Paragliding is perhaps the purest form of flying. Without an engine, you float through the air in silence. A surreal experience. The start is made with the help of a winch. Slowly the winch is pulled in and together with the instructor you climb to about 400 meters altitude.

Locations

The paragliding takes place in Almelo. At the bottom of this page you will find a map with the locations. On the field there is always a lot to see. On a Saturday there are about 10 people working to make sure everything goes smoothly. You can see the brightly colored paragliders floating through the air from afar. So you get all in the mood!

Theory

Not only will you be taking to the air with an experienced tandem pilot, but you will also receive information in advance about the equipment and about how, where and when you may fly. Of course, an instruction on takeoff, landing and steering is also part of this introduction.

Practice

Your first flight

Together with the instructor, you'll be hooked up to the winch cable. A few easy steps later the ground disappears under your feet and you climb gently upwards. When you are at the right height, the instructor disconnects the winch cable and you slowly glide down. If the instructor can find the rising air (thermals) you can climb even higher and stay in the air longer. The first flight is an introductory one, allowing you to take in all the experiences. You will have a beautiful view of the Dutch landscape.

Your second flight

If you choose two flights, then during the second flight you will receive an explanation of how to operate the paraglider and you can already begin to steer it yourself!

Your third flight

On a third flight, you will be given further instruction on how to control the paraglider or, at your request, the pilot can demonstrate spectacular flying manoeuvres. Paragliding can also be very sensational. How many special maneuvers the instructor can show depends on the weather conditions.

For whom

For the tandem flight you do not need any experience. You fly together with an experienced instructor. There are, however, a few things to take into account:

• Wear sturdy work or sports shoes and clothing in which you can move easily. Wear something that can get dirty and can take a beating. You can trip in the meadow during take-off and landing.
• In terms of fitness: you should be able to run a few steps
• During the flight it is not colder than on the bike
• A flight takes about 10 minutes. Sometimes there are good thermal conditions and you will stay in the air longer
• Pets are not allowed on the terrain
• Paragliding is an active sport. We do not accept liability for damage resulting from any of our activities. Fortunately, very little goes wrong and the greatest damage is usually just some dirty clothes or a few bruises
