Helicopter flying lesson Madrid
Get behind the controls of a helicopter yourself and experience what it is like to fly yourself in this complex machine. You will fly in a Guimbal Cabri G2. This is a two-person helicopter, so you fly alone with the instructor.
You will fly from Cuatro Vientos Airport. This is an airport in Madrid. This is the oldest airport in Spain. Cuatro Vientos Airport is one of Spain's three civilian airports and is about 8 kilometres away from the city centre. There is always a lot to see at this airport. This will make you feel even more like taking your own flying lesson!
Flying in a helicopter is unique! Only helicopters can hang completely still in the air. The view from a helicopter is therefore fantastic. However, they are very complex machines. That makes them expensive to build and maintain. That is why flying lessons on a helicopter are more expensive than on other aircraft.
The time has come!
You start with an explanation of the basics of flying. The instructor answers important questions in this 'briefing'. How do you fly a helicopter? What are all the buttons and gauges for? You learn about the main and tail rotor. How to control them with the collective, cyclic and foot controls. Of course, you can ask all your questions too. Are you coming to the flight school together with your partner, friend and/or family member? Then, of course, he/she may also attend. Then you will all know what you are going to experience in the air. You don't have to pay extra for this.
The theory part always lasts about 30 minutes, regardless of the length of time you choose for the practical part.
After the theory part, you will go to the helicopter with the instructor. First, you check together that the aircraft is ready for departure. Then you taxi to the beginning of the runway, which is done while flying because the helicopter has no wheels. Through the headphones, you can hear the instructor and the control tower. The instructor asks the control tower for permission to take off. And then that's it! In the air, you get to fly the helicopter yourself. You get to fly everything yourself except the last part of the landing. Of course, the instructor helps you with everything. He takes over from you when you want to have a nice look outside. Or if you want to take photos or a video.
How long the practical part lasts is up to you. The minimum is 30 minutes. But the longer, the more fun, of course!
