Grumman Tiger

You will fly in a Grumman Tiger, an agile and sporty single-engine aircraft known for its smooth handling and excellent all-round visibility. Designed as a true "pilot's plane", the Grumman is light, fast and precise, built for flying fun. Thanks to the large canopy, you have a panoramic view.

The plane is relatively spacious, and has plenty of power compared to other aircraft in this class. The controls are light and easy, while its good streamline gives it a high cruising speed.

Location Rotterdam

The flying lesson departs from Rotterdam The Hague Airport. This lively airport offers plenty of activity day and night. While the scheduled flights are still landing and taking off, you prepare for your own flying adventure. The combination of professional air traffic and small aviation makes this location ideal for a realistic flying experience.

Programme starts with theory

When you arrive at the airport, you will see the planes coming and going. This will get you in the mood!

You start with an explanation of the basics of flying. The instructor answers important questions in this 'briefing'. How does a plane stay in the air? How do the pedals work? What are all the buttons and gauges for? Of course, you can also ask all your questions yourself. If you bring someone along to watch you take to the air, they can of course attend the introduction too. Then you will both know what you are going to experience in the air.

Practice

After the theory, you will go to the plane with the instructor. First you check together that the aircraft is ready for departure. Then you drive to the runway, this is called taxiing. Through the headphones you can hear the instructor and the control tower. The instructor asks the control tower for permission to take off. And then it's time, you take off!

Guided by the instructor, you get to fly the plane yourself: take off, fly turns, maintain altitude, and even perform an approach. The instructor guides you step by step and takes over where necessary. The instructor can also take over from you if you want to enjoy looking outside. Or if you want to take photos or a video.

Debriefing

After the flying lesson, you will have a debriefing. You discuss the flying lesson in detail with the instructor. What went well and what can you improve next time? During the debriefing, you can ask the instructor any questions about your flying lesson. Have you got the hang of it? Then you can also discuss your next steps towards a licence with the instructor during this debriefing.
